2023
SCOUT GOAL

$300

Trails End popcorn.png

Our annual popcorn fundraiser is important for several reasons:

  • It provides the Pack with revenue that we use to sponsor pack events, provide our den with funds for their activities, and cover all of our pack operations.

  • It teaches the scouts confidence and people skills. It takes a lot of courage for scouts to door knock and ask for sales!

  • It helps our scouts get to know their communities. One can learn a lot about where they live by walking around your community.

  • The scouts learn the values of work and the sense of accomplishment that goes with it.

  • It is the only fundraiser Pack 136 does all year.

Popcorn Selling Requirements
As this is the only fundraiser Pack 136 does all year, we do have minimum selling expectations. All scouts are expected to sell a minimum of $300 or pay the opt-out fee of $100.

Opt-Out Fee -The popcorn sales opt-out fee is requested for any scouts not selling popcorn, in order to offset the difference between what you pay for dues, and what our Pack spends on each scout for outings, activities, advancement badges, belt loops and many other things. The $100 opt-out fee can be paid on Venmo to @pack136 or via check. Contact pack136cubmaster@gmail.com for details.

How to Sell Popcorn

  • Online with Trail’s End  - send a link to family and friends with a personal message or video from your scout!

  • In Person Sales - scouts and parents sell to family, friends, neighbors, etc.

    • Take Order - Popcorn ships to the Pack in November, so no shipping charges for the buyer. The Scout then delivers items to the customer. Credit cards or cash are accepted. Collect money at time of sale.

    • Online Direct - Popcorn ships directly to customer soon after order is placed, customer pays shipping charges. Credit cards only.

  • Storefront Sales - Sell at a local store for 2 hours with another scout from Pack 136. It's an easy way to get close to your goal!

Scout Responsibilities for In Person Sales

  • Wear your Class A uniform.

  • Sell your adventure, ask for their support, smile, and be polite!

  • Make eye contact when talking.

  • Simple script idea: "Hi, I’m _____________ with Cub Scout Pack 136.  Would you like to support Scouting by buying some of our delicious popcorn?

  •  **Collect all money at the time of the sale**

  • Whether they buy or not, say “Thank you!”

  • Have fun! Remember, smiles sell 80% more popcorn!
