Cub Scout Awards

There are many awards a Cub Scout can earn other than the required and elective adventures. Below are some common awards our scouts earn in Pack 136.

*Read to the bottom of the page about how to document these awards for your scout.

National Summertime Pack Award

This award can be earned by the individual Scout, the Pack and each Den! Here is a link with the details.

  • The PACK earns a certificate and streamer by conducting three pack activities over the summer - one each in June, July, and August.

  • SCOUTS can earn an the National Summertime Award Pin for attending at least one of our Pack events each month.

  • DENS with an average attendance of at least half their members at the three summer pack events are eligible for a colorful den participation ribbon. (Den Leaders must notify the Advancement Chair to receive the ribbon.)

Outdoor Activity Award

This award is earned by doing the following:

  • Attending Day Camp or Resident Camp

  • Completing a rank-specific required adventure

  • Completing 4-7 (depending on rank) other outdoor activities like having a picnic, going to the park, going on a hike, etc.

  • Even if your scout has earned this award before, they can earn it again this summer!

Shooting Sports Award

This is a rank level award that is typically earned at either Day Camp or Resident Camp, but it can be earned at any Cub Scout district or council event, by completing the Level 1 requirements for one of the following shooting sports: slingshot, archery or BB gun shooting.

Pins can also be earned for each discipline when the scout completes Level 2 requirements.

Recruiter Strip

A Recruiter Strip is awarded the first time a scout recruits a friend, relative, classmate, or other acquaintance to join Cub Scouts. New scouts can join our Pack ANY TIME throughout the year.

Please have them contact a leader to sign up - and make sure they say which scout recruited them!

Entering Achievements in Scoutbook

Working on Cub Scout achievements is a great way to keep scouts engaged in fun activities during the summer, but in order for your scout to receive awards, their achievements must be documented in Scoutbook.

Although Den Leaders enter many of your scout's achievements, the den leaders are not present for every activity, so it is ultimately the parent/guardian's responsibility to ensure all achievements are entered into Scoutbook. Please review the entire Awards section of Scoutbook to see what your scout can accomplish throughout the year!
