Funding

Each Cub Scout in Pack 136 must pay annual dues, which support the national, council, district, and pack operations and activities.  Inability to pay the fee should not restrict a scout from accessing or renewing membership; parents should contact the Pack Treasurer, Cubmaster or Committee Chair if finances are a barrier to a scout’s participation.  Any conversations or information relating to finances will be kept confidential.

Popcorn Sales
In addition to fees paid by individual scouts, funds raised through the official Cub Scout popcorn sales provide critical support for the pack. Each scout is asked to participate in this fundraiser, selling popcorn and related items—including the ability to designate a donation of popcorn to military troops--to friends and family via safe door-to-door and/or online sales, as well as “Show and Sells” arranged by the pack outside local businesses.  Scouts who meet sales targets may earn awards and/or receive stipends to participate in self-pay pack activities at a discounted cost.  Each year, the Pack plans an indoor camping experience, such as the Huntsville Space Center overnight outing, for which a separate fee is charged; the more popcorn we sell, the higher the amount the pack can pay for each scout to attend these activities.

Each year, Pack 136 kicks off this important fundraising initiative at an August or early September pack meeting, when scouts receive the year’s brochure and order forms.  Sales take place throughout September and October, and orders will be delivered in mid-November.

This fundraiser is the only one for Pack 136!  Support the popcorn sales—and address any questions to the “Popcorn Kernel!”
