What is your role?
Sara Allen is a Den leader for Pack 136's multi-rank den and a former assistant to the Committee Chair. Brian Allen is a former Pinewood Derby Chair and former Assistant Scoutmaster.
Why do you volunteer with Scouts?
We volunteer for scouts because we value the character our children have developed by participating in the Scouting America program, beginning as Lions and continuing into Boy Scouts (for our oldest sons).
Through Scouts our children have learned to be Trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent and these are lifelong skills that will help them in college and into adulthood!
By volunteering with the pack, we ensure that Pack 136 stays strong and the activities remain fun, and encourage boys and girls to continue on their scout journey!
What first inspired you to volunteer with Scouts?
When our oldest started as a Lion, I could tell that he loved it, and I wanted to be a part of it.
What has been your favorite memory or moment as a Scouts volunteer?
I have many fond memories volunteering, but my favorite is giving a group of girls from all over Williamson county the opportunity to participate in Scouting America.
What's the most rewarding part of volunteering with Scouts?
Some of my kids' best friends are kids they met in Scouts and knowing the pack wouldn't be here without volunteers makes it worth it.
What is your favorite Pack activity/part of the Scouting year?
My family LOVES camping at Boxwell.
If you could take your Scouts on any adventure, anywhere in the world, where would you go?
It would be fun to take my Scouts on a trip to Costa Rica to explore the rain forest and to kayak through the bio luminesence found in the sea.
What's one item you never go to camp without?
Gotta have a card game or two.
