Volunteer Spotlight: Eric Spencer

What is your role in Pack 136? Cubmaster

Why do you volunteer with Scouts? I volunteer to give back to the organization that provided me so many wonderful memories growing up.

Were you a Scout? If so, what rank did you earn? Yes, and I earned Eagle Scout.

What first inspired you to volunteer with Scouts? I was inspired to volunteer when my son joined the pack in Kindergarten. I started as a Den Leader with Barb Tippins and then graduated to help with the pack. I get to spend time in the outdoors away from the hustle and bustle of daily life with my son and build memories that I hope mean as much to him as mine with my father in Scouts.

What’s the most rewarding part of volunteering with Scouts? I truly enjoy watching the Pack in the open running wild—enjoying time outdoors, away from screens, just being kids.

What’s your favorite Pack activity or part of the Scouting year? Spring Campout at Boxwell! It reminds me of my days there.

If you could take your Scouts on any adventure, anywhere in the world, where would you go? Gauley River in West Virginia for whitewater rafting.

What’s one item you never go to camp without? Underwear.

Favorite campfire tradition? S’mores!
