Why do you volunteer with Scouts?

I had great experiences as a cub scout and boy scout. I want to be a part of giving kids the same great experiences.

What advice would you give to someone thinking about becoming a Scouts volunteer?

It's a very rewarding experience helping the kids have fun doing new things. It can be as much or as little time as you can commit. I started by asking the den leaders what I could help with at the monthly den meetings, which is just an hour a month. No scouting experience necessary. Some of the first activities I helped with were potting plants, putting together a simple birdhouse, and painting.

What has been your favorite memory or moment as a Scouts volunteer?

The Old Stone Fort trip last Fall. That was the first real campout for my son and he enjoyed every bit of it. Sleeping in a tent, hanging around the camp fire, and playing in the river.

What is your favorite Pack activity/part of the Scouting year?

Going to Boxwell. I camped there as a kid so it's nostalgic to go back.
