What advice would you give to someone thinking about becoming a Scouts volunteer?
Our Pack is strong because of dedicated volunteers who make incredible events, activities, and learning opportunities possible. Volunteering does take time, but it’s deeply rewarding. There’s a place for everyone — whether you enjoy planning events, teaching skills, organizing details, or helping behind the scenes. Our Volunteer Coordinator will help you find the right fit. Our kids are growing up fast, and you’ll never regret the time you spend supporting them and helping our Pack continue to thrive.
What's the most rewarding part of volunteering with Scouts?
The most rewarding part of volunteering with Scouts is the connection. It gives us meaningful one-on-one time with our children and their friends during den meetings and Pack events, and it’s been incredible to watch them grow over the years. Just as special are the friendships formed with other parent volunteers — connections we might not have made otherwise, and friendships that have truly enriched our lives.
What is your favorite Pack activity/part of the Scouting year?
Our favorite part of the Scouting year is the Pack camping trips. We love watching the kids play, explore, and just be kids. It’s a chance for our family to unplug from technology and step away from our overscheduled lives to enjoy meaningful time together — and with friends.
What's one item you never go to camp without?
One item we never go camping without is our sleeping pads. We used to bring inflatable mattresses, but they took up a lot of space, took time to inflate, and still weren’t very comfortable. Sleeping pads have been a game changer — they’re easier to pack, quicker to set up, and far more comfortable. There are great options available at REI and even on Amazon.
