Volunteer Spotlight: Becky Mills

ree

What is your role? I am the Advancement Chair for the Pack. I have been since 2015. My son was in Pack 136 from 2001–2006. My grandsons have been in the pack since 2014.

Why do you volunteer with Scouts? I think that Scouting supports a well-rounded upbringing. It teaches you life skills and serving others.

Were you a Scout, if so what rank? I was a Girl Scout. I started as a Brownie and left as a Senior Scout. I was also in Junior Achievement through the Tennessee Wildlife Resources.

What first inspired you to volunteer with Scouts? I saw there was a need and I volunteered. I can sort and organize; that’s all that is needed for this role.

What has been your favorite memory or moment as a Scouts volunteer? Watching all these children grow up and explore the world.

What advice would you give to someone thinking about becoming a Scouts volunteer? Find something that you can do; you don’t have to be an expert. You will reap great rewards.

What’s the most rewarding part of volunteering with Scouts? Knowing that I can be of service, and spending lots of time with my son and grandsons making memories.

What is your favorite Pack activity/part of the Scouting year? I LOVE Cub Scout Day Camp!

If you could take your Scouts on any adventure, anywhere in the world, where would you go? I would like to go to Key West for the Sailing High Adventure program.

Share your favorite campfire song, activity, or tradition. I enjoy the skits!

What’s one item you never go to camp without? My first aid kit and water bottle!
