Raingutter Regatta (Nov 8)

Ready... Set... Blow!

Our annual Raingutter Regatta is one of Pack 136's favorite traditions. Scouts design and build their own miniature sailboats before racing them down water-filled rain gutters using only the power of their breath!

This fun, hands-on event encourages creativity, engineering, sportsmanship, and friendly competition. Whether your Scout builds the fastest boat on the water or the most creative design in the Pack, every participant has the opportunity to showcase their imagination and enjoy an afternoon filled with fun.

We'll also celebrate another successful popcorn season with prizes, games, crafts, and treats for everyone.

2026 Event Details

Date: Sunday, November 8, 2026

Time: 2:00–3:30 PM

Location: Holy Family Catholic Church Pavilion

Dress: Class A Uniform

Please park in the church parking lot and follow signs to the pavilion.

What to Expect

In addition to the boat races, Scouts and families can enjoy:

• Raingutter Regatta races by rank

• Gaga Ball and outdoor games (weather permitting)

• Craft tables and activity stations

• Popcorn prize distribution

• Ice cream sandwiches and snacks

• Time to cheer on fellow Scouts and celebrate another great Scouting season

This event is designed to be fun for the whole family, so siblings and parents are encouraged to join the excitement.

Boat Requirements

Each Scout is responsible for bringing a completed Raingutter Regatta boat.

Official Raingutter Regatta kits may be purchased through the Scout Shop or other retailers, though Scouts are also welcome to build their own boats provided they follow

Pack guidelines.

Please keep these requirements in mind:

• Maximum boat width is 3 inches so it fits inside the race gutters.

• Boats must float.

• Boats should include a sail.

• Scouts are encouraged to decorate and personalize their boats.

• Test your boat at home before race day if possible.

Creativity is encouraged! Foam, lightweight wood, recycled materials, and other creative ideas can all make for great boats.

What to Bring

Each Scout should bring:

• Completed Raingutter Regatta boat

• Water bottle

• Class A Uniform

• Light jacket or sweatshirt if the weather is cool

Parents may also wish to bring:

• Camp chair

• Camera

• Extra cheering voice!

Sportsmanship

While every Scout hopes to cross the finish line first, the Raingutter Regatta is really about creativity, effort, and having fun together.

Scouts are encouraged to:

• Cheer for every racer

• Show respect for fellow competitors

• Celebrate great designs and good effort

• Remember that the goal is to have fun

These lessons are just as important as winning the race.

Popcorn Celebration

We'll also use the Raingutter Regatta to celebrate another successful popcorn fundraiser!

Scouts will receive their popcorn prizes during the event. If your family is unable to attend, please coordinate with your Den Leader to arrange pickup.

A Few Reminders

• Activities will rotate throughout the afternoon.

• Snacks will be provided.

• Pack photographers may be taking photos during the event.

• Families are encouraged to stay a few minutes afterward to help with cleanup and teardown.
