Pinewood Derby (Jan 9)

  • Jun 23
  • 2 min read

The Pinewood Derby is one of the most anticipated events of the Cub Scout year! Scouts design, build, and race their own custom wooden cars while learning craftsmanship, creativity, problem-solving, and sportsmanship along the way.

Whether your Scout spends weeks perfecting every detail or simply wants to build a fun car with a parent, the Pinewood Derby is about much more than racing. It's a chance to cheer each other on, celebrate hard work, and enjoy an afternoon of friendly competition with the entire Pack.

Join us for one of Pack 136's favorite traditions!

Upcoming Derby

Date: Saturday, January 9, 2027

Time: 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM

Location: Holy Family Parish Hall

Dress: Class A Uniform

Event Schedule

1:30–2:00 PM | Check-In, Weigh-In & Design Voting

Scouts should arrive a little early to check in and have their cars officially weighed and measured. Final adjustments may be made before official inspection.

Parents and family members are invited to vote for the Best Car Design during check-in.

Volunteers are always appreciated during check-in.

2:00 PM | Racing Begins

Races begin by rank, and every Scout will have multiple opportunities to race. Heat winners and standings will be announced throughout the afternoon.

Mid-Event | Pizza Break

Pizza will be served during the races, so families can grab a slice between heats.

After official Scout races conclude, siblings will have an opportunity to race their own cars just for fun.

Awards Ceremony

The afternoon concludes with awards and recognition for our Scouts.

Awards are presented for both Speed and Design, making it possible for every Scout to compete in different ways.

Awards

Speed Awards

  • 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place for each den
